Nem kisebb célt tűztek ki maguk elé a Westend City Center megálmodói, minthogy Budapest szívében, a híres párizsi Eiffel-iroda által tervezett Nyugati pályaudvar lepusztult, használatból már kivont, raktárakkal telezsúfolt területén új belvárost teremtsenek. Gönczi László, a FIABCI Magyar Tagozatának elnöke szerint az együttes tényleg betölti ezt a szerepet. Egy olyan, a főváros egészére, szinte minden irányú fejlődésére jelentősen ható ingatlanfejlesztésről van szó, amely kiérdemli a szakma elismerését.
Az épület “önzetlensége” is tiszteletet érdemel, hiszen nem egy elkülönült szigetként funkcionál, hanem az egész környéket is felértékeli: a Váci út mentén széles, parkosított sétány nyújt lehetőséget a járókelőknek egy kellemes sétára. A régi Sóház és a Ferdinánd híd felújítása is hozzájárul a városrész új életre keltéséhez.
A belvárosra jellemző parkolási problémát 850 helyes épület alatti és 85 férőhelyes önálló, egyedülálló építészeti megoldással a vasúti sínek felett készült parkolóházzal oldották meg – így a parkolók nem vesznek el igényes városi területeket. Felépültével új arculatot kapott a városrész, az elmúlt egy év alatt a Westend City Center a város leglátogatottabb kereskedelmi létesítménye lett. –
FIABCI is the largest international real estate federation, which includes some of the world’s top real estate professionals and operates in more than 50 countries, creating a truly global real estate network. Hungary was the first among the former socialist countries to join the federation in 1992.
Every year FIABCI organises the International Real Estate Development Award Competition (Prix d’Excellence). This unique award recognises the project that best embodies excellence in all the real estate disciplines involved in its creation.
It was in 1998 when the Hungarian projects first had the chance to measure their strength in the international arena. The block rehabilitation of Ferencváros won the first prize in the category of the public sector. This result is also outstanding because this was the first occasion in the history of the Prix d’Excellence that a Central European project won the award for the best real estate, the Oscar” of the trade.
Last year, following the exciting Hungarian round, at the international Prix d’Excellence the first prize of the public sector category was given to the Market Hall of Budapest. The Community Valuable Heritage Protection Assistance also won a special recognition.
Following the successful work of FIABCI Hungary, the chapter was invited to organise the European Study Days 2000 in Budapest. During the Study Days leading experts of the best international real estate companies, big international legal firms and financial institutions inform participants regarding the real estate market. At the same time the award ceremony for the third Hungarian Prix d’Excellence took place. –
The building site of Westend City Center lies in the very heart of Budapest, which area formerly belonged to the Nyugati (Western) Railway Station designed by the famous Eiffel company from Paris and which was crowded with tumble-down warehouses already withdrawn from use. Being completed, the city got a new look and it soon became a favourite place for the people living in Budapest. During the past year Westend City Center became the most frequented commercial center of the city fulfilling it’s promotional slogen: A new city center has been born.” –
