Folyamatosan mozgott a föld, három nagyobb rengés is volt.

Ahogy arról korábban beszámoltunk, szerda este földrengések rázták meg Olaszország középső részét. Háromszor mozdult meg a föld, egy ember szívrohamban meghalt.

Néhány perccel negyed 8 előtt 5,4-es, majd negyed 10 után nem sokkal 5,9-es földmozgás volt, az utóbbi már hosszabb ideig tartott, mint az első. Nem sokkal éjfél előtt volt még egy 4,6-os rengés is, közben és utána pedig hatvan kisebb, ebből 23 volt a Richter-skála szerint 3-asnál nagyobb erősségű.

A rengések majdnem ugyanazt a területet érintették, mint az augusztus közepi földmozgás. Az epicentrum Marche és Umbria tartomány térségében volt.

A pánik általános volt. Az egyik leginkább érintett falu, Ussita polgármestere arról beszélt, hogy a rengések hatalmas pusztítást végeztek, „apokaliptikus a helyzet”. A sérültek viszonylag alacsony száma annak köszönhető, hogy az első rengés után mindenki az utcára szaladt, és kint is maradtak annak ellenére, hogy a talajt eső áztatta.
