Jó ideig úgy tűnt, hogy a diktátor nem hajlandó távozni az ország éléről, még úgy sem, hogy a múlt héten a hadsereg átvette az ország irányítását, és házi őrizetbe helyezték az elnököt. Az ok az volt, hogy Mugabe a feleségét, Grace-t szorgalmazta utódjának a háborús veterán Emmerson Mnangagwa helyett, akit menesztett alelnöki tisztségéből.
