A GIRAFFE AMB (Agile Multi Beam) a mobil radarrendszerek legújabb generációjához tartozik, és kiváló eredménnyel ismeri fel a repülőgépeket, illetve rakétákat. Az elektronikusan vezérelt antennának köszönhetően a rendszer nemcsak a céltárgy távolságát és haladási irányát, hanem magasságát is meg tudja határozni.
“Megrendelőnk nagyon jól informált: a technológiai és gazdasági tényezők alapos értékelése után kaptuk meg a megrendelést. A szerződés megerősíti a GIRAFFE AMB rendkívül erős világpiaci pozícióját.” nyilatkozta Lars Törnquist (főigazgató, Market Operations, Ericsson Microwave Systems AB).
A GIRAFFE AMB-t előzőleg már a svéd haderő és más országok katonai szervezetei is megvásárolták.

Ericsson GIRAFFE contracted by French Air Force
Ericsson Microwave Systems AB has received an order for GIRAFFE AMB, an air defense surveillance radar system with integrated command functions, from the French military equipment procurement agency DGA. The first system will be deployed in about two years.
GIRAFFE AMB (Agile Multi Beam) belongs to the latest generation of mobile radar systems and has excellent capacities in detecting and tracking aircraft and missiles. GIRAFFE AMB is based on an advanced command system and a new 3D concept. The antenna is electronically controlled and can thus, in addition to distance and direction data, also provide information on the altitude of the target.
“The customer is very knowledgeable and we received the order after thorough evaluations of both technological and economic factors,” said Lars Törnquist, General Manager, Market Operations at Ericsson Microwave Systems AB in Mölndal. “This contract confirms GIRAFFE AMB’s very strong position on the world market.”
The GIRAFFE AMB will have full NATO interoperability.
GIRAFFE AMB has been developed to meet future defense needs, where information and command superiority will play increasingly vital roles.
GIRAFFE AMB has previously been ordered by the Swedish Armed Force and by other export customers, in addition to France. In Sweden, the system is designated UndE23.
